Broomhill Festival

Last night (Monday 14th) Harlequin Brass appeared at St. Mark\'s in Sheffield as part of a long running annual festival in Broomhill. The group have played in the venue before and were well aware of the qualities of the room and how to get the best from the space.

The concert would prove to be a physically hard session for the players but they are well capable of managing this sort of occasion and they did very well throughout the concert.

Personally, I was very pleased with the musicality and flexibility of the group. They are used to being directed towards a meaningful perfomance and they seemed to relish every nuance and readily take the musical journey that so few groups can explore.

At times the playing was quite excellent and as ever, I was proud to take Harlequin Brass through the wide range of styles required by the programme.

If you have not yet heard this group when they really click; you should!
