Hard Working Groups

This Autumn all of my groups have been working extremely hard and it seems like no time at all since I was talking about the new season of concerts and here we are looking towards the Christmas work.

YWO played their Halloween Concert in Leeds Museum to a full house. The programme and circumstances were challenging enough and to add more challenge, the last rehearsal for it was over three weeks before the concert. The group coped very well under the circumstances but it would still be nice to play something under ideal conditions for everyone.

Musically, the group continues to grow and will do great things in 2011.

Phoenix Concert Band have just completed a weekend residential course which they enjoyed and relished. The group moved forward both musically and socially, which can only be a good thing. This is an experience that I think they will try to recreate and with a fuller attendance to make it really effective.

Harlequin Brass have had more concerts in the diary this Autumn and have a healthy Christmas programme too. The group is capable of some really sublime, musical playing and should be proud of the special sound that they make.

Nottingham Symphonic Winds has done a challenging charity concert already this season which was a great success both musically and in terms of fund raising. This has also enhanced the already shining reputation of the group in their region.

They group will perform their Christmas concert as well as two Kidsophonic concerts which will twice sell out the Albert Hall. A brilliant achievement.

Every player in all of the organisations makes sacrifices to create good music and to be part of a creative team. When everyone, and that does mean everyone, pulls together, there are no limits to the potential for the future of each group.
