The Yorkshire Wind Orchestra was formed as a direct result of the celebration of the Centenary of the Leeds City Charter in 1993 after a concert in Leeds Town Hall, in which some 250 local wind players took part.
A large wind ensemble of woodwind, brass and percussion, the Yorkshire Wind Orchestra performs to the highest possible standards. Many of the players are professionally engaged in music, not necessarily primarily as performers, but as instrumental teachers, students and dedicated amateurs.
